Rider Profile Bike Set Up

nullThe stock standard CR250R is enough to get you started on 75ft gaps, but I prefer to throw some after market parts on it for that added performance. I run a stock standard Honda CR250R frame, with custom cut plastics.

Pro Circuit pipe and muffler help the engine and sound trick, but generally the workload on the engine for FMX is pretty tame. Jetting is pretty much stock as the bike rolls out of the crate, with the only mod being the needle raised one notch.

Wheels are also stock Honda, they pulled up fine after my two world record jumps in 2005. There are plenty of after market wheels, but if you work on your suspension then stock wheels should be enough to keep the bike upright after a big gap. Terry Hay looks after my suspension (out of Racetech in Sydney), and it’s an absolutely trick piece of equipment. It sets us back a fair whack, but when you land a gap of nearly 250 feet you need to make sure the sudden impact on the valving doesn’t throw you off. Terry sets it up a treat, so when I hit the down ramps the suspension really takes all the pressure and won’t let me bottom out.

Pro Circuit hook me up with all the trick bits like triple clamps, foot pegs and axle blocks, and I get sorted with Pro Taper bars and grips. Really happy with my ride… and it all started with a stock CR250!
